Founding
When Dorothy Stamps saw a large tract of land being cleared, she wondered what ws going to be built at the intersection of Rockbridge and Deshon roads.
As a resident of nearby Water's Edge, Mrs. Stamps was concerned about the impact of development and she began recruitying other residents who were also concerned. Together, they formed a coalition and fostered a partnership with the developers of what is now the Deshon Plaza.
Today, thanks to Mrs. Stamps' initiative, the Deshon-Rockbridge Community Coalition continues to work for the betterment of the area. The group is comprised of communities, individual homeowners and merchants in the general vicinity of the intersection of Rockbridge Road and North Deshon Road in East Dekalb County.
It was formed after Mrs. Stamps and her husband, Bill, unselfishly opened their home as the original meeting place on January 31, 1994. They invited community representatives from five subdivisions - North Shore, Water's Edge, Dockside, Mountain Oaks, and Wynbrooke, which formed the charter group.
